Module 25: Evaluating Tech Prep: TPES and the Illinois Case
Overview
Bragg (1997a) found that "of nearly 50% of all local Tech Prep consortia in the United States, 40% reported they had not even begun to implement formal evaluations of their Tech Prep programs. Another 30% indicated their consortia were in the planning stage of evaluation, showing only a minority of Tech Prep consortia were actively implementing formal evaluations, and most of these were very preliminary." Many other studies also point out the lack of Tech Prep evaluation and the need for it.

In this module, basic information on how to evaluate Tech Prep in a local consortium will be provided. In addition, the description of the Illinois Tech Prep Evaluation System (TPES) will allow students to better understand the process and components of evaluating Tech Prep.
