Introduction to Tech Prep

self-directed learning program
Module 8: Work Based Learning
Overview
All Tech Prep programs include work-based learning experiences for students. Work-Based Learning (WBL) should not just be about participation in activities at a worksite, but rather a system of progressive steps enabling students to learn through work experiences. WBL should be related to both academic programs and student career goals. WBL provides students with life-size laboratories so students can discover, create, explore, and develop competency-based skills.

WBL can be divided into two main categories: career development WBL and skill development WBL. In this module, information about definitions, essential elements, and types of WBL experiences are provided. Tech Prep youth apprenticeship and worksite training programs are also treated here.
