The Components of Tech Prep
Overview

Tech Prep has several interrelated components that are identified as essential elements by the Perkins Act. Tech Prep grants have been awarded in each state to create local Tech Prep consortia in order to facilitate the implementation of these elements and to disseminate information about Tech Prep programs.

In this section, information about the required elements of Tech Prep is provided. Also, information about nationally recognized programs is presented, including consortia that have received the Dale Parnell Tech Prep Award, the U.S. Dept of Education Excellence in Tech Prep Education Award, and the Exemplary Worksite Learning Award. Descriptions of successful elements are provided to learn from others and apply best practices in a variety of contexts.
