Module 11: Student Transitions
Overview
For the smooth transition of Tech Prep students to postsecondary education, a system must be in place to identify and track Tech Prep students at the high school level and their transition to the postsecondary level. A transition system can also play a role in increasing the number of high school graduates who are transitioning without requiring remediation. Transition services can include: progressive Work-Based Learning experiences; occupational student organizations; specialized advisement and counseling services, and specialized placement services. In this module, we draw heavily from a study entitled "Community College and Beyond," which offers useful insights into how students transition from high school to college and/or work.
